Corporate Earnings Dominate The Markets For Now


Corporate earnings season is upon us. Many of the leading stocks such as Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC), and International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) reported earnings after the closing bell yesterday. All of these stocks can move the markets temporarily, however, it is really the European debt crisis, and the Asian markets that will really cause the big reactions by investors. Lately, the European markets have been steady and the Chinese economy has been inflating. This has lead to a very stellar January as the major stock indexes have all rallied throughout the month. This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES H2) are declining lower by 3.50 points to 1307.00 per contract. Nearly everyday the futures sell off at the open and seem to rebound higher by the closing bell. We shall see if that pattern continues.
